![]() ![]() It was fun and innocent, a time of discovery for both of us. We lived with her family in Croydon for a bit, and at my mother’s in New York. ‘We modelled together, travelled together. So began a relationship that lasted two years, during which the pair were inseparable. ‘We hung out all night,’ recalls Sorrenti, ‘until we fell asleep on the grass in Hyde Park.’ He didn’t think he’d ever see Moss again, but weeks later they bumped into each other at a party. ![]() After studying painting and sculpture at the School of Visual Arts in New York, he’d fallen in love with photography, and, in between castings, spent his days taking pictures. Sorrenti was 19 at the time, an aspiring artist trying to making ends meet by modelling. The book has been eight years in the making and the idea for it came from Sorrenti’s wife, fellow photographer Mary Frey. ‘She was chatty and funny and I remember sitting next to her, feeling like my heart had stopped.’ Kate Moss and Mario Sorrenti Darren Gerrish.
